Thinking of using third-party SEO services? Before starting a project, prepare the following points to help your agency achieve the best results.

With over 10 years of providing SEO services to our clients, we’ve learned that these 4 things are essential to address about website access before starting an SEO project:

  1. Who is responsible for updates (and how often)?

There are three people who can be responsible for this: You, the SEO provider, or your Web Developer (if the web developer is separate from the SEO consultant)? If you or your team will be responsible, make sure there’s a commitment or at least a target regarding the changes to be made, so you don’t end up with disappointing results just because the requested updates weren’t done. If the SEO provider is given access, make sure they report the changes made. We’ve had an experience with a client who earned around 1 billion IDR, but due to poor coordination regarding who was responsible for updates, the website was hacked, and the Web Developer, SEO Consultant, and Client pointed fingers about who should handle the fix. Learn from this incident: ensure clear rules for update responsibilities.

  1. WordPress, Joomla, or Custom CMS?

WordPress is known for its flexible SEO settings, but that doesn’t mean other applications can’t be optimized for SEO. However, these two aspects are crucial for SEO success:

  • Can you customize the URL for each page?
  • Can you edit the meta title and description for each page?

Besides the ability to update the site’s content, these two factors are critical for getting the best SEO results.

  1. SEO is local wisdom

This means that SEO campaigns heavily depend on the language of the site. If you’re targeting the keyword “Online Store” in English, but your site is in Bahasa Indonesia with “Toko Online,” it will be much easier to rank for local SEO. Make sure to use the local language if you want to target the local market. Your site will be much easier to rank for.

  1. SEO is content marketing strategy

We once turned down a high-value SEO project simply because the site was mostly made up of images! You need to realize that in SEO, no consultant can guarantee top 10 rankings. From our experience, image-heavy sites are much harder to rank because Googlebot (Google’s spider for indexing) can’t analyze visitor behavior based solely on images. Therefore, prepare your best content before hiring an SEO agency.

These are the four key points to prepare for your SEO campaign. If you have any questions, feel free to send them to info@doxadigital.com. Or, if you’re interested in hiring Doxadigital as your SEO consultant, click here or call 021-5324093.
